Sharings from Chuck Tooman
By Chuck Tooman

Augustine of Hippo (born about 354 AD), who would later become known as St. Augustine, was not always a believer in Christ. But no matter where he was living or traveling his mother, Monica, prayed intensely for him to accept Jesus. And he did. At age 33.

Many years later, writing his Confessions and reflecting on a time of serious illness while living in Rome, Augustine said to God, “[My mother], who knew nothing of this, persevered in praying for me; she was far away, but you are present everywhere, so you heard her in that land where she was, and took pity on me where I was.” Precious.

 Parents, take heart.
